Although I am not originally a Minnesota native—born and raised in Illinois—I have become deeply connected to the beauty of the north shore of Lake Superior. In 1979, my wife and I moved to Grand Marais, MN, with our company Times Two Design: a graphic design, custom printing and framing business. Using a homemade darkroom to develop film and a one-color printing press to produce brochures and catalogs, we made a start for ourselves in what some would call “the boonies”. While technology has certainly changed, my love of photography remains constant. I was introduced to my first "real" camera — a Miranda SLR — as a junior in high school. I now shoot with Panasonic Lumix digital cameras, allowing me to experiment with unique photographic styles and formats, including vertical and horizontal panoramas. In my spare time I enjoy canoeing, hiking, playing tennis, and riding my homebuilt recumbent trike. I also like fixing and refurbishing computers, electronics and cars. |
